It is our belief that selecting heritage furnishings contributes to developing an industry that foregrounds durability and craftsmanship, promoting stronger environmental stewardship.
MR. recognizes the inherent challenges in navigating global supply chains for the transport and sale of contemporary design goods. Throughout the process—from fabrication to shipping—we work closely with our brand partners to address our environmental impact and reduce our carbon footprint whenever possible.
We carefully select firms that prioritize and share our mission, and look to further the conversation with clients and suppliers in all of our projects. We are perpetually inspired by several of our partners like PP Møbler, cc-tapis, Tacchini, Mater and others as they chart new approaches.
We are proud to drive this vital work forward, prioritizing conservation and sustainability initiatives across all sectors of our work.

VITRA
we are especially excited to announce the development of V-foam, the world’s first meltable and recyclable polyurethane foam, in partnership with German BASF. As a result of this partnership and co-development, Vitra has a one-year exclusive to the material. It will be phased into all of our products using PU, and aligns with our sustainability commitment.
KASTHALL
Teaming up with Pritzker Prize-winning architect David Chipperfield, Kasthall adds a significant milestone to its sustainability journey by becoming the world’s first rug maker to use recycled wool in its upcoming Fasad collection. The recycled wool used in Fasad, sometimes called post-consumer or regenerated wool, is crafted from wool fibers previously used in mattresses, which would otherwise be discarded. Through an innovative regeneration process, the fibers are transformed into high-quality yarn that comprises 25 percent of the wool used in each rug.
GLAS ITALIA
Glas Italia recently installated a state-of-the-art photovoltaic system on the roof of their Macherio headquarters— complementing their holistic water purification & recirculation program— allowing the Company to use clean energy for its production processes and save the emission into the atmosphere of over 57 tons of CO2 per year. A significant contribution to decarbonization & environmental protection of the territory.
These approaches run through all processes, from design to the finished product: the paints used for glass lacquers are water-based, solvent-free and without harmful substances; the upholstery materials of the seats are made from recycled plastics from the oceans; production management programs allow optimization of raw materials by minimizing waste, which is properly disposed of or recycled into new production.
In some cases, glass waste coming from production is even recycled after being reduced to grit to create new products.

Verpan uses Maersk ECO Delivery for all ocean shipping. Maersk ECO Delivery is reducing carbon footprint using sustainable net-carbon zero biofuels. These biofuels are ISCC certified, assuring that they have no negative environmental impact on agricultural or natural lands.

In 2020 and 2021 cc-tapis minimized its impact by saving, recycling and reusing materials to encourage more sustainable practices. In 2021 the company launched plastic-free packaging, taking advantage of the tons of clothing which are discarded globally every year. cc-tapis developed a resistant plastic-free textile which became the brand’s packaging, shipping rugs worldwide.

The standard UNI EN ISO 14001: 2015 is a certifiable standard, i.e. it is possible to obtain, from an accredited certification body operating according to certain rules, certificates of conformity to the requisites they contain. Certification according to ISO 14001: 2015 is not compulsory but is the result of a voluntary decision by the company which decides to set up its own environmental management system. It demonstrates that the certified organisation has a management system capable of keeping the environmental impact of its activities under control and systematically seeks to improve it in a coherent, effective and above all sustainable way. We are inspired by programs like cc-for education, a non-profit organization created by Italian rug maker cc-tapis providing private education to the children of weavers in Kathmandu, Nepal.

We are against throwaway culture. We develop circular solutions to extend the joy our products and services bring and to minimize the strain on our planet.
Circular business models create value by keeping products and materials in circulation instead of discarding them. For us, circularity can be renting, recycling, reusing, repairing, repurposing – the only limit is our creativity.
Our design is created to last. We want to attract people with unique visual appeal, unparalleled quality, and extraordinary attention to detail. We want to make sure our products are never thrown away.
Kvadrat, writing on the role of their suppliers,
Our suppliers are the foundation of our mission, providing us with the textile waste that fuels our circular innovations. Their dedication to responsible practices aligns with our vision of transforming discarded materials into new possibilities. By partnering with us, they help reduce waste and contribute to creating products that drive sustainable design. Their collaboration empowers us to demonstrate how partnerships can transform challenges into opportunities for the planet.
and clients,
Our clients are the innovators who embrace our mission of turning textile waste into meaningful, sustainable solutions. By specifying our products as alternatives to traditional materials, they help us prove that sustainability and design excellence can coexist. Their projects amplify our vision, showing the world what is possible when circular solutions take center stage. It is their trust in our materials and commitment to making better choices that inspire us to keep pushing boundaries.
